Deciding to undergo liposuction can be a big decision. Please read our frequently asked questions to give you peace of mind over any concerns.

Liposuction is designed to remove excess fat from the body using a long cannula. Small incisions are made for the cannula to be directed into the area where fat removal is required. Common sights include the abdomen, flanks, thigh, arms and neck. The harvested fat can be transferred to other areas of the body such as the breasts or buttocks to add natural volume. Mr Wokes can discuss this with you if requested.

It is usually possible to remove the desired volume of fat in one operation but on occasions more than one liposuction treatment is needed. Safety is paramount and Mr Wokes will guide you in terms of what can be realistically achieved with liposuction.

Most cases are day cases and recovery is straightforward. It can take 4-6 weeks to begin feeling comfortable and resume all normal activities. Finals results following liposuction become clear at 6 months once all the swelling and minor contour irregularities settle down.

If you are planning on having multiple liposuction procedures it is advised to wait a minimum of 6 weeks before having further liposuction however, it may take a few months to see the desired results before proceeding

There are some non-surgical techniques that can help reduce fat with zero downtime including Coolsculpting. It is important to remember non-surgical techniques will not give the same results as liposuction as it is a surgical procedure involving the removal of fat however, non-surgical solutions such as Coolsculpting which will freeze stubborn fat.

With all surgical procedures there are risks. Most common associated with liposuction include swelling, bruising and contour irregularities. Mr Wokes will inform you of the specific risks and aftercare instructions that are important to follow for optimal results.
