Using local or general anaesthesia, liposuction is undertaken to remove excess fat before incisions are made between the elbow and armpit to remove excess skin. This provides a tighter, slimmer and smoother appearance of the upper arm. Incision patterns vary depending on an individuals anatomy and the outcome you are aiming for. The surgery can take 2-3 hours but may take longer if you are having multiple procedures such as body liposuction or thigh lift surgery.
Following surgery, you may need to stay in hospital overnight. During the first few weeks, you should avoid all strenuous activities and relax as much as possible as there will be an element of discomfort and tenderness . Mr Wokes will advise pain killers you can take to help manage the early post-operative period. You will also be required to wear compressions garments to help with swelling and to support the treated area. It can take up to 12 months to see the final results.
